Stateside

I have had every good intention of blogging once I got back into the States...the only problem is that life has been so insanely hectic and crazy since I've been back and I finally have found some time to catch up in the midst of life here.

My final week in Edinburgh was incredible. My boyfriend came to visit and we made a wee trip down to London and then spent our last days enjoying Edinburgh. It was nice to just spend time in the beautiful city and soak up everything, especially with such a dear friend.

My last day at the House was awesome. It flew by. I got to spend some great time talking about life with the residents and just enjoying being there. I was surprised with a break filled with everyone and then coming back to a a surprise party. What a group of people. I miss them all so much.

We got back to the States on August 1st. We flew directly to Billings and attended the wedding of two of my dear friends from Christikon. It was incredibly fun. From there I returned to Minnesota and began the job search. Along with that, I found myself getting together with family and friends and just being surrounded with people who I had not seen in quite some time. It was absolutely lovely and overwhelming and incredible.

Throughout the next two weeks, I found myself becoming incredibly frustrated with the job market. don't get me wrong, I'm aware it had been only two weeks, but I was so ready to move onto something else. Easing back into life here has been pretty easy except for the feelings of misplacement and uncertainty. Otherwise, there are a couple of cultural things, but overall I've been doing well. I miss The House a lot, though.

Things all changed last week when my boyfriend convinced me to come and visit him and his family and go on a little road trip. You see, I got an email from a homeless shelter in Missoula, Montana asking to interview me and they weren't sure if they could do a Skype interview, so we drove up to Missoula to visit friends and so I could interview with them...and guess what...I WAS OFFERED A FULL TIME POSITION. All of my worries fell from my shoulders and I was so completely excited. It has been my dream to move to Montana ever since 4 years ago and my first summer at Christikon and now that is coming true.

So now I've been packing and I leave tomorrow. Ever since getting the job and getting back to MN things have moved fast. I get to drive a long distance over the next two days and start a new chapter. Yes, I am sad to leave me family and friends here, again, but I am so completely excited to start this new journey.

I just want to thank all of you for your support and help through this journey. I could not have done it without you. I hope to keep blogging every now and again. Hopefully with epic backpacking stories ;)

Sorry for the quick catch up, but there is much to fit in. Hope you are all well and thriving. Have a wonderful end to your summer and beginning to Autumn.

Cheers.
