I cannot believe that it is just about the end of April. Easter has come and gone and so much has happened that it is difficult to know where to begin.
Easter was wonderful. The weather made it seem as though Spring was truly arriving. I spent my Easter day at church in the morning and then at The House in the afternoon because I was working the late shift. I can't actually think of a better way to spend Easter Sunday here, really.
And since then things have been busy, but really great. I only have about 3 months left here, which is crazy. I can remember when I had only been here for 3 months and thought that was a long time. Ha!
The House has remained quite balanced. I've truly loved being able to actually spend good, quality time with the residents. That includes improving on my pool skills down in the pool room. Now, I don't get completely wiped out during a game. ;)
Recently, two of my co-workers took me to my first professional football (soccer for you Americans out there) game. We went to see the Glasgow Rangers. I'll tell you, it was a great day. I enjoyed it much more than I expected. With all the singing and cheering, I found it to be a pretty good atmosphere. Football has an interesting history in the UK and not always a pretty history, I think. So, it was nice to actually attend a game. The Rangers beat Clyde 2-0 and we went home happy campers. What was also cool was the fact that I hadn't told any residents that I was going, but the next day I got to work and loads of them asked about the game and everything! What a surprise! It made me feel so welcome and at home and it meant a lot. More than I realized at the moment.
It's funny feeling as though this place is another home now. Mentally, I've began to wind down and think about what's next. It's hard not to do that, unfortunately. I know that my time here is just beginning it's last leg and I know I'll be quite sad to leave even in the midst of the excitement of joyful homecomings and encounters.
I'm just going to try and continue to enjoy and learn from this place and these people one day at a time.
